Grand Prix 2019 Summer Update

As we near the end of June and bask in the Summer sunshine (?) the Grand Prix has gone through its first 7 months with 25 runners having competed in 8 or more qualifying races and a further 17 on 6 or 7 races. Still plenty of events left to get your quota up to 8 races.

The table is currently lead by Matt Hallam on 795 points adding another first place victory to his Brass Monkey success with the Guiseley Gallop. Well done Matt. He is being chased by John Hobbs on 699 points from 7 races and Gary Mann on 773. It was a very close contest in the Leeds Half Marathon with John beating Matt by 11 seconds finishing in 7 and 9th places. David Herdsman had an excellent race in the Vale of York 10 miles finishing 3rd in 56.07 25 seconds ahead of John Hobbs 4th. David also had an excellent London Marathon race in 2 hours 36.36 ahead of Simon Midwood 2 hours 40.43 both finishing in the first 500.

Leading the other groups are

B Graham Jones
C Paul Smith
D Sam Davison
E Alan Hutchinson
F Pascale Fotherby
G Rachel Waters

The Spring GP parkrun at Roundhay had 27 Striders competing. The Summer Grand Prix parkrun is to be held at Armley Park on Saturday 6 July – please make a diary note and let’s aim for an even larger club turnout. Thanks for those who made nominations (Bob Jackson for Armley which is also in the Leeds Race series, and John Shanks for Falkirk – sorry we couldn’t lay on a coach for this one!)

The table so far has been updated at our Grand Prix page.

A further update will be made in the Autumn.
