Grand Prix update

At the end of the first quarter of 2021 leading the Grand Prix table on a devilishly good score of 666 is Bob Jackson with 8 races to his name. Not far behind and poised to overtake Bob is Sam Harris who has 635 from 7 races.

And there are plenty of opportunities to increase your own scores or get on the scoreboard by running your own virtual races over 1 mile, 5k, 5m, 10k, 10m, 20m, half and full marathon between now and the end of June.

On to organised races – these are listed in the Grand Prix calendar. Note a few date changes:

· Vale of York 10 moved to Tuesday 20 July

· Apperley Bridge moved to Saturday 30 October

· Leeds Half moved to Sunday 5 September

Also date of Vale of York Half Marathon has just been announced as 12 September

Spring club handicap race: a separate announcement will be posted shortly with details. Owing to covid stay local restrictions regrettably it was not possible to hold a winter handicap this year.

The Grand Prix is open to all club runners, all you need to do is get out there and run the races and you will earn points. You could achieve the minimum 8 all in this quarter by running virtual races over each of the 8 distances above. If you win your group you will be awarded a very smart Valley Striders Grand Prix tech T shirt or vest at the end of the year.
