Please book by Sunday at 10pm at the latest

Note that although the booking forms say 31 March at GSAL this session will actually be at Leos – I will assume that if you book 31 March that you’ll want your normal timeslot at Leos.

Details are here https://pecoxc.co.uk/pages/relay.html

and there is now a course map on the website.  The race HQ will be near the lake and café which are at the South end of Middleton Park and about a 1 mile walk from John Charles stadium car park (that’s if you don’t get lost in the woods).  Nearest entrance to the race venue is Town Street, Middleton, use postcode LS10 3SH.

Please see the Facebook post for more details and to make teams

I need all team information – names of runners, running sequence and team name – by 10pm Wednesday evening.

We requested to start on 31 March but, unsurprisingly due to the winter weather, GSAL will have a lot of maintenance to do on the track and they’ll be doing it in the Easter holidays.  Good news is that we’ll still be on the track much earlier than last year!

The first training session at GSAL will be Tuesday 21 April.  There will be 2 timeslots – 6pm-7pm and 7pm-8pm.

We usually have 4 activities – 80m sprint, 400m run, long jump and shot put – as these are the events most commonly appearing in junior competitions and these are also the safest for participants.  In order to fit more juniors into a timeslot we may have a 5th activity – usually relays.

By now I would normally have created a page on the website for spring/summer events but temporarily I’ve tacked a summary onto the end of the autumn/winter page

I’ve found nearly 40 events so far!

Track & field outdoor competition starts in late March and there are a number of local events in April.  Most meetings will have a 80m and 600m for years 5&6 and a 100m and 800m for years 7&8, so are worth going to even if you haven’t had any practice at a field event.

Please see the events for autumn/winter page.

Our “local” league, the West Yorkshire Track & Field League has 7 meetings, 3 on Sundays and 4 on Wednesday evenings.  It’s £35 for the full series and even if you can’t get to any of the evening meetings (they are at Wakefield and Cleckheaton) then an average of £11.67 for three is cheaper than most other meetings.

In the annual report I mentioned that we had some specific vacancies – we need more parents with DBS certificates, we would like a few parents to go on Run Leader courses, a few to go on safeguarding courses and we need one or two Junior Welfare Officers.
