We are overbooked and 7 juniors are on a waiting list for places.
If you know now that you’re not able to come please reply to the FB post ASAP to free up a space for someone else.
If you are planning to come then please check that your child’s name is listed (I have been known to miss someone!) and also check whether I’ve allocated a duty to you and then reply to the FB post.
Refresher of “Rules”
- Don’t bring more than 2 children unless they are all yours.
- Don’t arrive on site before 5:50pm
- Parents who are group leaders or activity leaders come for 5:55pm, everyone else for 6:10pm
- Park in the back car park not in the main car park nor by the track
- Accompany children from car park (and on way back afterwards)
- Don’t let your children run on the track or play on the equipment before the session
- Go to the toilet before the session (this is near the sprint finish – turn right just before the tennis courts)
- Don’t let your children scuff the track
- Be available to help
I think we will also be overbooked for 7 July at GSAL in which case the waiting list will comprise (a) those who were booked in for 23 June but didn’t come and didn’t cancel (b) those who were booked in for 23 June but didn’t come and cancelled very late.
Wed 24 June and 3 more dates – West Yorkshire Track & Field
The fourth meeting in the West Yorkshire league takes place this Wednesday evening at Cleckheaton. Too late to enter this one, but there are three more – Sunday 12 July and Wednesday 12 August at Wakefield, and Sunday 13 September at Cleckheaton.
480 have entered so far including 9 V S juniors. There are only 20 places left, please contact me ASAP if interested. The price is £30 to cover all 3 which is a bargain. Athletes aren’t expected to attend every meeting.
England Athletics affiliation is required for this; you’ll find details of this in a previous email to parents https://www.valleystriders.org.uk/email-to-parents-5-april-2026/

Enter at https://racebest.com/races/cy4fa
8 junior Striders have entered so far. Last year, 23 junior Striders ran (and 32 the year before)
Of the 120 places, 57 have been sold so far.
There is also a fun run at 09:45 for younger than year 3 (enter on the day).
The junior races and the fun run are on our list of “Free Races” and those who take part will have their entry fee refunded as a cashback on next year’s club membership fee. (NB this doesn’t apply to C group)
The junior races are held in conjunction with the Eccup 10 road race which starts at 09:30. This year there is also an Eccup 5 and those aged 15 and older are eligible to enter the 5 mile (17 and older for the 10 mile). Enter via the Racebest website.
England Athletics affiliation is required for the 10 and 5 mile races; you’ll find details of this in a previous email to parents https://www.valleystriders.org.uk/email-to-parents-5-april-2026/
Wed 7 July – training at GSAL (& Bedquilts for C group)
I will publish a booking form for July this weekend.
Please book on or before Thursday 2 July to that I can plan arrangements for the training session on 7 July.
If we are overbooked, the waiting list for 7 July will be made up from those who haven’t booked and those who didn’t cancel or cancelled late for 23 June.
Tue 14 July – Golden Acre Relays
All training is cancelled and we hope that most junior Striders will take part in the Golden Acre Relays. Last year we had over 30 teams each of 3 runners.
Junior Relays for school years 2 to 7
The junior relay starts at 6:30pm. There are categories for younger juniors (all team members in years 2 to 4) and older juniors (all team members in years 2 to 7, i.e. a younger junior can run in an older team but not vice versa). Within these age groups there are teams for boys, girls and mixed.
There will be over 70 teams in total and my advice is that the best team combination is 3 children who know each other so that runner number 2 recognises their runner number 1 as they approach the handover point etc.
The club will make and pay for all entries. All I need to know for each team is the names of the children, their running order, and their team name.
I’ve set up a Facebook post for this
We currently have 19 teams of 3 and there are 5 individuals looking to be part of a team
If you’ve already said “Yes” then please check this FB post to ensure the team name and running order is correct and reply if not.
If you’ve not yet signed up, then please do so by 28 June so I can make the entries the following week. I will make teams from the 1’s and 2’s not yet in teams.
The FB post has the timetable for the evening.
Please also use this post to ask any questions – it is likely that the question you ask is of interest to others.
Adult Relays including school years 8 to 12
Entries now closed. We have 7 junior teams
The FB post has the timetable for the evening.
