Still time to enter, entries close Friday 2pm

80 VS juniors have already entered.

Here’s a bit of background for those who are still considering entering. If you’ve already entered then skip to where it says “Race 1”

The Peco cross country series takes place over 6 Sundays – 17 November, 1 December, 15 December, 5 January, 9 February and 9 March. Most venues are in Leeds.

The first 5 dates are individual races – 1 mile for school years 2 to 6 at 10:00am and 2 miles for school years 7 to 11 at 10:20am. The sixth date is a relay race at 10:00 for teams of 3, each runner runs just over a mile.

These races are suitable for all abilities and all of you who train with Valley Striders are capable of running them!

The cost to enter is £8, that’s £8 in total, not £8 per race.

The closing date for race 1 is Friday 15 November at 2pm. If you aren’t available for race 1 but may be available for race 2 or 3 then enter now as it will be the same price.

Directions to Temple Newsam and where to park (read this, there is one car park that is pay-and-display, also I recommend that whichever way you get there, you use the Halton exit, not the Whitkirk/Colton exit).

Paul Deverill is bringing the club gazebo, if a few of you could come at 09:00 to help set up I and he would be very grateful (and you’d also get a good parking space and a shorter queue for the toilets). Please post a reply on Facebook if you can assist.

Please arrive at Temple Newsam 09:30 at the very latest, you’ll need to park, walk to the course, find the club tent, pin on your race number etc etc and be ready for the club warm-up at 9:50

Location of toilets (be prepared for a queue)

Collect your race numbers from the Valley Striders gazebo which will be in the club tents area near the finish. The race numbers will be in alphabetical order of surname. There will be over 80 of them. Do not let your children look through them, as there is a good chance they will be out of order by the time they are finished. And don’t do what one adult did last year which was take the pack of numbers to the start of the 1 mile race to hand one to a child that was needing it – there were lots of 2 mile runners looking for their numbers.

Course maps (I’ve noticed that for a change we are all running clockwise round the field)
