AUTUMN HANDICAP 10k TUESDAY 13 SEPTEMBER

First runner starts at 7pm prompt from the Reservoir edge near the bottom of the hill.  The route will be along the res footpath, across the dam, round the hilly detour, by the water treatment works, through to Eccup Village.  Rather than our normal figure of 8, we will do a U-turn at the post box, this will compensate for the extra distance for the detour by the dam.  2 or 3 volunteers required to marshal, you will get free pie'n'peas

Back at Leo's, while waiting for the calculations, Tony's special pie and peas will be served to those who have booked in advance.  Please email me or phone 289 2830 with your choice of meat or vegetarian pie, and choice of mushy peas or baked beans.  These come well recommended, and only 2, payable on the night, only if you have booked in advance (did I say that already?)

HAREWOOD 10k SUNDAY 18 SEPTEMBER

I need 12 volunteers to marshal half of the Cancer Research Harewood 10k on Sunday 18 September.  So far I have none!  This is (a) a good cause and (b) an opportunity for us to hand out Valley Striders information sheets and Harewood 10 mile entry forms to the runners at the end of the race (most of the runners are unattached).  Most of the marshalling points are in pairs where the two marshals will be only a few yards apart.  There are just two solo points.  Many of you are running the Great North or the Yorkshireman that day so please please contact me if you are free.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING TUESDAY 27 SEPTEMBER

Please keep this date free

HAREWOOD 10 & 2 MILE TRAIL RACES SUNDAY 9 OCTOBER

We need fifty marshals to help on this day.  In previous years we have raised as much as 3000 for St Leonard's Hospice.  This year our chosen charity is Lineham Farm Children's Centre and I hope we can exceed the 3000.  A well marshalled race means that we will be allowed back and the runners will come back next year.  I have 4 volunteers so far, so just another 46 needed.  Please contact me if you are free.

And I'm currently trying to locate the souvenir pottery that is due to everyone - will let you know when I find it.

CARDIFF 10k

Vicky was a late-ish withdrawal from the LCW team because she was selected for the North of England team to run in the inter-regional (North, Midlands, South, Wales, Scotland) 10k.  She finished 7th in 36:14, was 2nd counter for the North, the North were 2nd team, and Vicky had her first NoE vest.
