TRAINING INFORMATION

TRAINING NIGHTS are:
  • NB see also Maps and Directions page which has Streetmap maps and bus information)
  • Tuesday sessions except 2nd Tuesday in month 7.00p.m. from Old Leodiensians' Club ("Old Leos"), King Lane, Leeds (1 mile North of Sainsbury's), LS17 5PR
  • 2nd Tuesday in month 7:00p.m. from Carnegie Athletics Track , Church Wood Lane, Headingley, LS6 3QS Please pay track fee £3.50 at the desk.
    • Meet at Indoor Sports Centre 7:00p.m. ready to run. We have a warm-up jog, some stretching exercises, then a variety of reps including some or all of the following (a) 30 secs on, 30 secs off for 5 minutes (b) 3 by 400 metres with 30 seconds rest betwen each (c) Indian file running in groups of 6 for 8 minutes (d) pyramid 1 min, 1m30s, 1m30s, 1min with 30 secs rest between each (e) Valley Striders patented teams of 3 sprint relay
    • Maps Carnegie Athletics Track / map for parking

  • Thursday all sessions 6.45p.m. from Scott Hall Sports Centre, Scott Hall Road (the A61), Leeds LS7 3DT
    • Approximately 7 miles at approximately 8 to 9 minute mile pace (faster runners wait for slower ones), Summer on Meanwood Trail or Roundhay Park, Winter various well-lit routes.
    • If 10 or more runners turn up, this may split in to two groups, faster and slower.
    • First Thursday in the month is suitable for newish and/or slower runners, you need to be able to run at least 1 mile continuously at 10 minute mile pace AND to be able to run for 6 miles in total (with stops)
    • Other 3 Thursdays in the month are NOT suitable for slow runners, you need to be able to run 7 miles (with breaks) at 8 to 9 minute mile pace
  • Friday all sessions 6.00p.m.
  • Sunday most sessions 9.00a.m. from Smithy Mills Lane (nearest postcode is LS16 8EZ)
    • Anything from 10 to 16 miles at approximately 8 minute mile pace (faster runners wait for slower ones), generally up the Meanwood Trail and then towards Harewood or Bramhope but many other routes
  • If in doubt, email us letting us know your previous running experience and we'll assess which is the best session for you

Tracey Morris is a Level 1 coach and currently in middle of qualifying for "Endurance Running Coach"
