Valley Striders Athletic Club is based in Alwoodley, North Leeds, Yorkshire, England.
We compete in Road Running, Fell Running, Cross Country Running and Trail Running.
Our runners range in pace from 12 minute miling to 5 minute miling.
Tracey Morris is one of our fastest runners but we have many much slower!
We were founded in 1982 and have about 180 members.

Next Training Sessions
Tuesday 9 February - Track Session at Leeds Met - meet Indoor Sports Centre ready to run at 7pm (weather permitting)
Thursday 11 February, meet 6:45 at Scott Hall Sports Centre for steady 7 miles.
Tuesday 16 February - meet Leos, ready to run at 6:45pm, 6 by 5 mins on High Ashes (weather permitting)
Thursday 18 January - meet 6:45 at LEOS not Scott Hall for steady 7 miles followed by curry at the Ruchee.

TRAINING NIGHTS are:
  • (Click links below for Streetmap maps)
  • Tuesday all sessions except 2nd Tuesday in month 6.45p.m. from Old Leodiensians' Club ("Old Leos"), King Lane, Leeds (1 mile North of Sainsbury's), LS17 5PR
  • 2nd Tuesday in month 7:00p.m. from Carnegie Athletics Track , Church Wood Lane, Headingley, LS6 3QS
    • 2nd Tuesday in month, "track" : 4 times 400 metres with 40 secs rest between each, 4 times 2 minutes with 40 secs rest between each, 4 times 400 metres with 40 secs rest between each at Carnegie Athletics Track / map for parking meet at Indoor Sports Centre 7:00p.m. ready to run

  • Thursday all sessions 6.45p.m. from Scott Hall Sports Centre, Scott Hall Road (the A61), Leeds LS7 3DT NB Thursday 18 February is 6:45 from LEOS
    • Approximately 7 miles at approximately 9 minute mile pace (faster runners wait for slower ones), Summer on Meanwood Trail or Roundhay Park, Winter various well-lit routes.
    • If 10 or more runners turn up, this will split in to two groups, faster and slower.
    • Thursday is NOT suitable for complete beginners, you need to be able to run 3 or 4 miles continuously AND to be able to run for 7 miles in total - if in doubt, email us letting us know your previous running experience and we'll assess which is the best session for you
  • Sunday all sessions 9.00a.m. from Smithy Mills Lane (nearest postcode is LS16 8EZ)
    • Anything from 10 to 16 miles at approximately 8 minute mile pace (faster runners wait for slower ones), generally up the Meanwood Trail and then towards Harewood or Bramhope but many other routes
