Roundhay parkrun organised by VS on Saturday 28 February – from Alex Watson-Usher

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered via Facebook or our parkrun email.  We’re now set up for the admin team, marshals and pacers, so all we need now is lots of Valley Striders running too!

Note that the Roundhay parkrun for the 5 weeks 28 February to 28 March is in the Leeds Race Series and also in the Leeds Junior Race Series for school years 7-12.  The Roundhay Junior parkrun for the 5 weeks 1 to 29 March is in the Leeds Junior Race Series for school years 3-6.  For details go to www.leedsathletics.net – the Series are free to enter!

We need all this equipment back at Leos so that we can take an inventory and know what to re-order for the Meanwood Trail Races.

Brighton Half Marathon (from Tom Button)

The Brighton Half is run along the seafront at Brighton and so is fairly flat (not quite Brass Monkey flat but definitely not Leeds).  The weather had been predicted to be awful but on the day it was sunny but cold - ideal running conditions.  Fortunately they got the distance right this time (unlike in 2012 when it was 1/2 mile too long).  I was pretty pleased with my time and I think Holly’s would be a candidate for a record for a 33-week pregnant woman, if they kept such things!

  Pos Name             Gun      Chip

  350 Tom Button       1:29:37  1:29:14

 6706 Holly Williams   2:34:08  2:22:52

 7675 finished

Ilkley Moor Fell Race (from John Marsham)

The rain & snow held off to allow at least a dry start to Ilkley Moor – a race that gets a surprising amount of miles and ascent out of a small area. Simon Bailey and Tom Adams were almost 7 minutes ahead of 3rd place and Caitlin almost 5 minutes ahead of 2nd lady. There were 238 finishers overall, with 9 Striders.

1 36.52 Simon Bailey Mercia Fell Runners M 1st man

   30 46.24 Caitlin Rice W 1st lady

Three Peaks entries are still open and Heptonstall is entry on day (some people are also doing Edale Skyline too, and I’m sure a few other things as well – see email/facebook for details).
