Subject: V S Update - Run 100k for Max parts 1 and 2, Baildon swaps, pie/peas, Leeds Half

Run 100k for Max part 2 – also Friday 26 March

We conducted a straw poll at the club tonight and found that many Striders won’t be able to do the Run for Max on Friday morning at 10:30, so we’ve set up

a second Run for Max in the evening at 6pm, meet Oakwood Clock 5:50pm-5:55pm and we plan to do 3 or 4 laps each (walkers do 1)

We have over 15 Striders already saying they are going to the funeral and wake, so if you can get away from work, come along.

If you can’t get away from work during the day, come to Run 2 for Max.  NB if you’re working a bit late, aim for 6:15-6:20 and join the second lap.

Please wear your Valley Striders vest.

Here’s a map of the lap http://www.mapmyrun.com/route/gb/leeds/583126929788377241

Over 20 tributes to Max on the website www.valleystriders.org.uk/maxjones.htm   Email me to add yours.

Baildon Boundary Way number swaps

Are allowed, providing you tell the organisers in advance.  I have a form to be filled in and then handed in on race day.  If you have a number to sell or are looking for a number, I will perform Friends United.

Pie & Peas and Club Handicap – Tuesday 6 April

Please place your order for pie and peas to [email protected] before 22:00 on Sunday 4 April

Please select meat pie or vegetarian bake ; mushy peas or baked beans ; and if apple pie is required.

Leeds Half Marathon – Sunday 9 May – entries and marshals

As at Monday evening there were 80 online places available (they may be filled by the time you read this) but there were also 300 postal places still available.  If you want to enter, I guess you’ve got till the end of the week (or maybe not that long)   You can download an entry form at http://www.leeds.gov.uk/files/Internet2007/2010/4/marathon%20application%20form-printer%20friedly.pdf .  Or get full details at http://www.leeds.gov.uk/page.aspx?pageidentifier=abd608ad-77a3-45ad-bf66-e1e6a71f33c3

If you don’t get in (or you just aren’t ready to run), we need to supply some marshals for the race.  Last year we had about 12 marshals covering from the 1 mile marker, up Meanwood Road, to the 3 mile marker in Meanwood.  Most of the running clubs in North Leeds will again be marshalling a section and we’d like to help again.  We get no money for this but we do get a chance to stake out our banner on the route and all clubs who help will get a mention in the pre-race literature and/or the post-race literature in the goody bags. Considering that 80% of the runners are unattached, that’s a big marketing opportunity!  Can you help?

Message from Alison Rose

Hi Bob, I have just had a chance to read this email (I am on a backlog - the peril of spending too much time by a physio couch!) what lovely comments! It was fantastic to get such great feedback and as a team, we all said that we had a lot of fun doing the session, and what a lovely group the club is. We would be delighted to return to do another session.
Thanks again for such lovely feedback and for arranging the session.
Hopefully see you soon, Ali
