Thank you for your thanks last night – it did all go
rather well didn’t it!
Thank you for the emails today, here are some extracts
(I thought it better to leave them anonymous)
(1) Thanks
to you (and your accomplices) for last night. It was good fun if a little
slippery. I think I beat my 5 mile race PB(!) which was set in one of the
first races I did last autumn.
(2) It was enjoyable to be in mixed teams of Valley and
Abbey Runners and personally it was a change not only to be beaten by the same
Valley Striders, but, also a number of new runners in the shape of the Abbey
Runners. The BBQ was brilliant and thanks must go to Tony and his team.
Appreciation and thanks to the Marshals, Timekeepers and Recorders who all did
a super job and also to Dr M and yourself for the overall organisation.
One suggestion is that could we arrange the next joint venture on a Friday so
that more time can be spent interclub socialising after the race, we could even
arrange entertainment such as a Disco, Band or Magician! Finally and not
least a big thank you to Patrick B for the magnificent banners he produced to
welcome our guests (a double first in Architecture/Lego Construction has so
many applications).
(3) Would just like to say thanks for last night. Never done
anything like that before and wasn't as awful as I had imagined.

Race Report
Roberttown 7 (near Spenborough) – from Jeremy
Ladyman
A well
organised 7mile race with an undulating course and a rather attractive
commemorative paperweight as a prize for finishers. The field was small (c.200
runners) so there was no jostling for position when the start gun
went off and it was possible to get into a good rhythm early. NB the
finish is higher than the start.
I enjoyed
the race despite the heavy rain and came 16th in c.43mins 45secs. I think this
was a similar pace to my Rothwell 10K time (which was a PB) - all those full
English breakfasts I had in
